A shareholder agreement is more than a legal document. It can help owners make important decisions together, establish clear rules for transferring shares and hold owners accountable to their shared commitments.
Drawing on his research, Professor Jaskiewicz will share evidence-based insights into what makes a shareholder agreement valuable, which provisions can create value, and which types of family businesses can benefit most from them. Through interactive exercises and discussion, participants will have the opportunity to apply these insights to their own family business context.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- what makes a shareholder agreement effective and valuable
- which provisions can make a meaningful difference
- how shareholder agreements can support owners and long-term value creation
- how research-based best practices can be applied in your own family business.
The workshop builds on Professor Jaskiewicz’s research and related publications. For those interested in exploring the topic in advance, he and his co-authors have written a Harvard Business Review article on shareholder agreements in family businesses.
After the workshop Minna Oksa will introduce practical insights into the shareholder agreement provisions that matter most in Finnish family businesses, from keeping ownership in the family and succession planning to governance, dividends and exits, illustrated with real-life examples.
The event is free of charge and open to all of our members.
